John Edward Liddle

John Liddle is one of Toronto’s most sought after conductors and soloists. He has enjoyed a colourful career as trumpeter, teacher, clinician and conductor with many bands and orchestras, bringing to the conductor’s podium a wealth of experience and astounding musicianship.

A dynamic and versatile performer, John’s recent conducting portfolio includes the Toronto Symphony Orchestra, the Buffalo Philharmonic Orchestra and no less than four Toronto symphonic ensembles. John also performs as a trumpet soloist with the celebrated Kings of Swing band, and has performed with such notables as Red Skelton and Burton Cummings, as well as the North York Symphony and the Etobicoke Symphony Orchestra. His passionate sense of community, combined with his professionalism, have led the North York Concert Band to outstanding achievement.

Elected by the players of the band every few years, these musicians oversee the day to day operations of the band and organize its performances and events.ย The current executive was elected in April 2019, and includes:

The musicians of the NYCB are as diverse as the band’s repertoire. All of us are dedicated players who make time amidst our careers and personal lives for a dynamic musical pastime.

If you are a passionate concert band instrumentalist with proficiency in reading and playing music, the Band would love to hear from you. The band meets every Thursday night, September through July, near the intersection of Finch Ave W. and Dufferin St. Rehearsal starts at 7:30 p.m., and runs for two hours.
